TEEN PROGRAMS & RESOURCES

Under The Teen Compass are two different resources, both designed for use in schools and nonprofits The Teen Compass Wellness Notebook and materials to help you facilitate Teen Compass Wellness Circles. Both materials provide a private place for teens to assess their wellness in eight, interconnected areas, and to think about how they can make positive changes to create greater wellness in their lives.

Both resources help teens determine what they can do in each area to create more health and wellness in their lives, decide what changes they would like to make, answer reflective questions, and have a place to examine their own choices. When either is used in a group setting, opportunities become available for teens to discuss challenges to being well, and to brainstorm ways to overcome those obstacles. Stresses are normalized, and community is created.

 TEEN FAITH & WELLNESS RESOURCES

The Teen Compass Faith & Wellness Notebook

Each teen who is involved with a group using The Teen Compass Faith and Wellness Notebook curriculum needs one of these colorful, 126-page notebooks.

In this notebook teens will assess their own wellness in eight interconnected areas (spirituality, stress resilience, relationships, rest and play, handling emotions, organization, school and work, and care for the body), complete The Teen Compass self-assessment tool, and learn about what wellness looks like in each of the eight areas.

The Teen Compass Faith & Wellness Notebook Leader Guide

Inside this 5 1/2" x 11" leader’s guide you will find 90 pages with step-by-step, easy to follow directions for using this 27-session faith and wellness curriculum with teens. This curriculum is broken down into eight units, each unit taking an in-depth look at one of eight areas of wellness in a teen's life. Each unit is made up of three lessons where teens are encouraged to examine their lives by taking a self-assessment, learning things people can do to enhance that part of their life, discussing why wellness might be challenging in that area of their life, and learning about the wisdom they can glean from the Bible regarding each area.

The Teen Compass Faith & Wellness Notebook is needed for each teen when using this curriculum.

Teen Wellness Circle Faith Supplement & Resources

This faith based supplement was created to accompany the Teen Wellness Circle Workbook and Facilitator Guide for use in a church or other faith based ministry setting.

The supplement follows the six-week session cycle of the wellness circle and provides scripture, music, prayer, and reflection prompts for you to choose from. As with all our materials, please adapt and use them as fits for your group.

 TEEN WELLNESS RESOURCES (NON FAITH-BASED)

Our community language resources do not use explicit faith language and can be used within congregations or the broader community.

Teen Self Assessment

The Teen Self Assessment consists of eighty statements, ten for each of the eight different areas of wellness: care for the body, spirituality, relationships, stress resilience, organization, rest and play, work/school, and handling emotions.

The intent is to help teens observe where things stand for them now, and help them determine if there is an area of wellness to which they would like to pay more attention. We also offer digital versions our self assessment tools.

The Teen Compass Wellness Notebook

The Teen Compass Wellness Notebook, a colorful, 114-page consumable notebook, is designed for use classrooms or in other places where teens are gathered.

Teens will learn about and discuss what wellness looks like in each of the eight areas of wellness, create SMART goals, and have a place to journal for self reflection.

The Teen Compass Wellness Notebook Leader Guide

The Teen Compass Wellness Notebook Leader Guide is a 74-page guide containing everything a leader or teacher needs in order to facilitate a group using The Teen Compass Wellness Notebook.

The curriculum is organized into eight units, each unit taking an in-depth look at one of eight areas of wellness in a teen’s life.

WHAT TEEN WELLNESS CIRCLE PARTICIPANTS ARE SAYING

The teachers at MPS (Milwaukee Public Schools) love The Teen Compass Wellness materials!
— Brett Fuller, Curriculum Specialist: Health, Physical Education, Safe and Supportive Schools, Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS), Wisconsin
I have found that once we look at the eight important areas of wellness in The Teen Compass Wellness Notebook, meaningful, thought-provoking discussions take place. Teens are talking and listening to their classmates and come to the conclusion they are not alone in this world. They realize that other students have the same anxieties and frustrations in trying to gain independence. Ultimately, their wellness improves on the journey to adulthood.
— Lisa Bromley, Health teacher, Shorewood High School, Wisconsin
Our Next Generation is pleased to use The Teen Compass materials as a premiere tool in our suicide prevention efforts as we help our teens achieve good mental health and strengthen their ability to build meaningful social connections.
— Our Next Generation, Inc., Milwaukee, Wisconsin
We have discovered that The Teen Compass Wellness resource helps teens in many ways, including helping them to: set personal goals, practice healthy decision-making, become self-advocates, analyze influences, practice positive interpersonal communication, practice self management, and take personal responsibility.
