SELF ASSESSMENT INTRODUCTION

Living Compass offers different self-assessments specifically designed for adult, parent, and teen populations. Each self-assessment consists of eighty statements, ten for each of the eight areas of wellness. All three self-assessments are available in both English and Spanish.

It is important to remember that the results are merely a snapshot of a person’s life at this moment; it is not a measure of a person’s worthiness, nor is it a diagnosis of any kind. It is merely a quick look at a person’s life in the now. Just as an annual physical reveals different things that may need attention each year, taking the self-assessment regularly helps individuals keep an eye on things.

There are several ways to engage with the results of your self-assessment.

  1. You can save your results for future reference.

  2. You might share your results with others who might offer you support in making your desired changes.

  3. You may want to download or order the Wellness Compass Notebook that aligns with your assessment and is offered on this website; Adult, Parent, or Teen. Each of these groups of resources offers an examination of each area of wellness and helps you reflect on what you might want to do differently going forward.

  4. You may also want to sign up for the Weekly Column podcast for regular wellness information and inspiration.

 WHY TAKE A SELF ASSESSMENT?

Self-reflection is a cornerstone of well-being. Taking a self-assessment is like going for a life check-up. It gives the person a closer look at their whole life, often revealing things they already know about but haven’t given much attention to.

The eighty self-assessment statements, ten for each of the eight areas of well-being, help people better understand their situation and help them identify what areas of wellness could benefit from more of their attention.

COMPLETING AN ASSESSMENT

After completing the self-assessment, the results will be transferred onto a Wellness Compass image, and the eight areas of wellness will be filled in according to the responses given.

The shaded compass is an example of what the results might look like. The areas with more shading are where the user reported more satisfaction and less shading means less satisfaction reported.
