What the Program Entails

Living Compass is based on the idea that when people chose their own actions for change and share that commitment with others they have a much better chance of being successful in making the change than if they were to do it all alone. We offer individual coaching, working with the support of family or friends, or joining a Living Compass group. Each person decides for him or herself what is best for them.

If an individual decides to join a six week Living Compass group they will find that each week features a new lesson on making positive change. Below are the topics for the six sessions of the groups meant for individuals.

*There are different lessons regarding parenting for our Living Compass for Parents groups.

Session 1: "Whole Person Wellness: How Everything is Connected." In this session participants assess their whole-person wellness using the Living Compass tool. Participants also choose a mindfulness/spiritual practice and a wisdom quote to support them as they contemplate what changes they will be focusing on in the next six weeks.

Session 2: "Whatever You Pay Attention to is What Will Grow." Research shows that 0%-70% of all visits to the doctor are rooted in non-medical causes. Learn about the wellness continuum and how to pay attention to what you need to pay attention to! In this session participants create their Map for their Journey of Growth and Change, and share them with the group.

Session 3: "Change is Inevitable; Growth is Optional." This session focuses on how to turn change into growth. Participants report how their attempts at change are going and receive support from the facilitators and the group.

Session 4: The "J" Curve Principle: Growth Is Never Linear." Participants learn how to overcome the most common reason people are not successful in their attempts at growth and change. They also get continued support from the group.

Session 5: "Systemic Dynamics & Growth: Forming, Storming, Norming & Performing." Learn how your growth impacts the other systems of your life and vice-versa. Participants receive continued support from the group.

Session 6: "Maintaining the Growth, Staying the Course." Participants celebrate their gains and share plans for continued growth.
